Cooking Class Instructors are subject-matter experts in their field of food, cooking and/or nutrition. Instructors meld authenticity and experience with a joy for sharing information with students of all levels and backgrounds. Acting as a PCC brand ambassador, highlighting ingredient standards and seasonal offerings

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Delivers an exceptional experience at every cooking class. 
  • Ensures the class is a success by creating a fun and educational environment for students. 
  • Sets up and prepares ingredients for classes and ensures classroom is set up for students, then returned to a clean and organized state at completion of class 
  • Manages Event Assistants during class, providing clear direction and expectations as well as feedback 
  • Collaborates with the Co-op Chef and store team to ensure a seamless learning environment. Promotes ingredients and seasonal marketing initiatives of PCC Markets. 
  • Other duties as needed or required to ensure the successful execution of the cooking class 

Qualifications and Skills

REQUIRED: 

  • Two years’ experience in a related culinary field required, experience might include working as restaurant cook/sous chef/chef, as a private chef, catering, recipe writer/developer, nutritionist, etc. 
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and problem solve in the moment, especially under pressure  
  • Proven ability to convey information to a group in a fun and engaging way 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive customer service orientation toward staff and public 
  • Intermediate level of computer skills in order to interact with simple video broadcasting technology 
  • Available to work evenings and weekends. 

PREFERRED: 

  • Teaching experience  
  • Culinary degree

Reporting Relationships 

Reports to: Co-op Chef  

Supervises or Manages: Supervises Event Assistants during class, responsible for providing feedback to the PCC Experiences team as needed. Not responsible for hiring or conducting performance reviews.
