Overview

The Receiver receives authorized merchandise and processes all credits and shortages. They are responsible for proper processing and storage of all invoices, scanning and tracking shrink, store transfers and end of day procedures.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent, professional customer service
  • Receives authorized merchandise and processes all credits and shortages using a hand held computer and in accordance with company policy
  • Accurately verifies correct invoice numbers, quantity, and quality of merchandise
  • Responsible for proper processing of all invoices and storage of all invoices per company policy
  • Scans all store shrink into the shrink system and processes store transfers
  • Generates reports for department coordinators that recap purchases daily and weekly
  • Follows end of day procedures regarding receiver’s invoices
  • Maintains backroom orderliness and cleanliness
  • Oversees other receiving staff
  • Professionally communicates with the store director, customers, drivers, and suppliers regarding product
  • Responsible for maintaining the security of the designated receiving doors and receiving area to prevent theft of company assets and control the flow of traffic through the receiving area
  • Ensures department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to detect mistakes, trace errors and omissions, and problem solve and communicate in an efficient and timely manner
  • Computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office products, file management, and the ability to use a computerized hand-held unit
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Very detail oriented, organized, and dependable
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of position including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion and lifting 10-40 lbs regularly
  • Previous retail grocery experience required
  • Available to work Monday-Friday and occasional weekends as needed
  • A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required
  • If hired into this role, a Certified Food Protection Manager certification (for example ServSafe) is required (paid for by PCC)
